L'ORMARINS BRUT ROSÉ VINTAGE 2018

A string of fine pearl bubbles rises steadily and vigorously in the demure blush and partridge eye-coloured wine. Subtle strawberry, raspberry and cherry aromas are brushed with a light floral as well as a leesy, toasty note. Entry on the palate is crisp, fresh, and vibrantly zesty, with ruby grapefruit and lemon as well as understated red fruit notes. The lovely zip and intensity of the acidity are tempered by the broader, creamy lees and biscuit notes, along with a marmalade tang on the tail. A chalky grip adds body to the layered palate. Rewardingly long aftertaste.

Coral pink hue with a vigorous stream of fine bubbles. Bold strawberry and red berry fruit on the nose. There’s more of this in the mouth – with cherry, strawberry and bold red fruit on entry. The fresh, zesty lemon and citrus zip of acidity adds succulence to the mouthful. A broader creaminess then develops with signature toast and biscuit notes. Balanced and harmonious, the wine is well structured, long and complex but refreshing and vibrant throughout.

A vigorous and lively string of fine bubbles trail upward in the glass. The aroma is like a morning walk on the beach with sea foam and kelp carried on the air, along with oyster shell, bold citrus zest and a shy biscuit note. Crunchy and crisp entry, lively and fresh carrying flavours of orange and lemon. Taut. Pure and focused with thrilling lime backed by a gentle toast, cream and brioche. Adding to the overall complexity is a marmalade pith and zest dryness. The wine boasts grip, balance and superb poise, trailing languidly to a long gently leesy baked orange and toast tail.

The nose is bold and uncompromising in its intensity with nettles and grapefruit zest most prominent. The palate boasts a thrilling tension and vivacity. Taut, tangy lemon-lime and grapefruit twist. It’s light, crisp, and soft in a powerful yet lean way. Vivid acidity but beautifully balanced by the fruit flavours and lees. Lovely and crisp in its freshness with ample lip-smacking verve and zip. A deceptively light but powerful wine with a lingering tail. It will age well too.
