Tasting Notes:

Gentle, delicate nose with herbaceous blackcurrant leaf, cassis, violet and black cherry whiffs. Subtle hint of chocolate too. In the mouth, the wine is fresh, juicy and vibrant with red and black berry fruit immediately apparent. And earthy cocoa and spice nuance then comes through. As befits a classic Cabernet, it is structured with a firm backbone of refined tannin from well-integrated oak. Complex and alluring with smooth texture and mouthfeel. Lingers long and will age well.

The vineyards selected for the Anthonij Rupert wines are chosen from vines planted on very specific sites and soil types. The canopies of each block and the final yield of each site was managed precisely to express the character of the different varietal and location. 

Ageing was determined by a taste for optimal balance and after just over 11 months in wood and on the fine lees, it was removed and bottled.

Grapes are picked by hand, placed into small lug boxes and transported to the cellar in refrigerated trucks. In the cellar, the whole berries are double-sorted by hand and then gravity fed into fermenters. Each batch is cold-soaked for a few days and then slowly brought up in temperature. Fermentation takes place naturally.
